Content:

Creative Arts – Visual Art students will develop skills and knowledge by exploring and methods and materials study (of student choice). Potential projects could include the development and presentation of a a resolved practical work or body of work, a practical skills folio and profiles of the life and work of two artists (one local, one global). This course emphasises a problem-solving approach to the generation of ideas or concepts, and the development of visual representation skills to communicate resolutions.

As per the Subject Outline, in this full-year subject, students are expected to:

• demonstrate knowledge and understanding of core styles, techniques and media
• investigate and critically analyse the nature, processes and opportunities of working productively as a visual artist
• demonstrate knowledge of working creatively, within or across art forms, through an exploration of media, materials, techniques, processes and technologies
• apply practical skills, techniques and processes to work creatively and productively for a purpose/event
• work productively to develop, document and evaluate visual thinking
• communicate and critically reflect on personal aesthetic and opinions
• evaluate the works and intentions of other practitioners with reference to processes, outcomes and contexts

Assessment:

Student performance will be determined according to the subject’s Performance Standards as described in the Subject Outline. Grades A+ to E- will be used for reporting purposes.
